We love hearing from schools, especially when we have a chance to meet in-person. Inevitably, these face-to-face, deep dive conversations yield fantastic ideas on how to improve our software.
A visit earlier this year with a group of Bay Area schools did little to disappoint on this front — we learned a lot, and our products continue to improve based on the group’s feedback.
In this Idea to Feature, Jackie Christensen, Product Owner for onCampus, focuses on one particular feature — the Assignment Center. She shares, as a result of the gathering, the excellent ideas we learned on how to make it a more powerful tool for students.
onCampus Assignment Center Gets an Update!
Based on the feedback from a learning specialist at Drew School, we learned that her students really love the Assignment Center, but saw ways to make it even more dynamic.
Their ideas included making it easier to organize assignments by date ranges and/or by assignment type, along with providing an enhanced calendar grid view to not only see due dates, but assignment statuses as well.
In the upcoming June 4th release, you’ll see that all of their ideas are now full fledged features of the Assignment Center.
Following the update, students will be able to view assignments by day, week, month, or by a custom date range.
They’ll also be able to filter assignments by status. For instance, if they want to view all assignments that have been graded, they can click on the “Filter Status” button and select the “Graded” status to return a filtered view.
Lastly, we’ve carried all of this functionality over to the “Grid” view for students who prefer a visual representation of their assignments.
