Idea to Feature: Back to Inbox Zero: Managing your Official Notes

May 17, 2013 Peter Baron

Efficiently managing communications is an added pressure for teachers, and when it comes to our new Official Notes feature, the pressure’s no different.

Schools report liking the flexibility of using Official Notes to note anything from academic highlights to disciplinary issues to a student’s record. We’re thrilled that they’re being used in such a widespread manner.

But their popularity also uncovered an issue — teachers reported seeing their Inbox fill up fast, making it a challenge for them to streamline how they manage their communications.

They needed an easier way to reduce the number of unread Official Notes.

In today’s Idea to Feature, Mark Sargent, Product Owner for onRecord, shares how we solved that issue with a single button.

Bring the Inbox Back to Zero

Now, when a teacher goes to their Inbox, they can click the “Mark all as read” button to reduce the number of unread Official Notes back to zero. They will still be there to reference, but the pressure of a full inbox is no more.

As Mark Sargent said, getting back to zero “is something that we all like to see.”
