Blackbaud ID is coming to the K-12 “ON” Products

January 4, 2018 Annie Davis

Happy New Year! This year, Blackbaud K-12 is skipping the fad diet and setting a resolution we can stick to—improving the administrative user experience and increasing security in the “ON” suite of school management system products with Blackbaud ID (BBID).

Blackbaud ID

How will BBID affect your school? It will allow users to access multiple Blackbaud products and services with one login, making navigation between Blackbaud products simple and intuitive. For example, a single user (with the appropriate access rights) will be able to login with one username and password to see all “ON” Products, Raiser’s Edge NXT, Financial Edge NXT, Research Point, Attentive.ly, and the online user community.

BBID will also provide peace of mind with an added layer of two-step authentication security. Once users enable this feature (it is an option), they will be required to enter a unique one-time verification code supplied via text message at login. You can learn more about Authentication Settings here and two-step authentication here.

Two-Step Authentication Settings

Best of all, BBID integrates with SAML 2.0 compliant cloud-based identity providers such as Azure AD for user authentication. This means that your school can register the “ON” products in your active directory services so users can enter their school network login credentials to access ON and other BBID Blackbaud Products.

The early adopter program (EAP) begins in February with anticipated availability for all schools who opt-in this spring. There’s more information regarding how BBID will impact “ON” Product users—whether school administrators or constituents—in this release letter, which includes information for modifying your LDAP or Google configuration to best take advantage of single sign-on with BBID.

If your school wants to participate in the EAP, you can express interest here.
