10 Tips for Data-Driven Marketing
at Your School
Know where your school stands.
Understanding your school's position in the marketplace
is the first step. Determine who your users are, what
they think of your school, and what they want out of their
experiences there. Look at surveys, interviews, marketing
reports, self-studies, and strategic plans to help point you
in the right direction.

With a sound data-driven strategy, you'll get your school's message heard loud
and clear across all channels. Follow these tips to get the most out of your future
marketing campaigns.
Know how much you send.
Each department has a general idea of what it produces
annually, so collect this info: who sends out what, how,
and when. Record it all on one communication calendar,
so everyone is on the same page. Are you sending too
often? Not enough?
2
Determine your email hits and misses.
Look into open rates and click rates. Was one subject line more appealing than the other?
Maybe a large photo kept the reader from scrolling down to the call to action. Even the
color and style of buttons can engage people in different ways.
